Green Roof Density Bonus Ordinance
This ordinance allows for increased density in properties zoned for a low-density multi-family residential (RM-1) and neighborhood commercial corridors (CMX-2, CMX-2.5) if a qualifying green roof covers at least 60% of the building’s roof area. Since it’s approval by Council in 2016 the bonus has led to a major increase in green roof installations in the city of Philadelphia.

Green Roof Tax Credit
Earn a tax credit of 50% of the cost of constructing a green roof, up to $100,000, against the Business Income and Receipts Tax (BIRT). To qualify the green roof must cover 60% of the roof area.

GARP Greened Acre Retrofit Program
PIDC offers grants to contractors, companies or project aggregators who build stormwater retrofit projects across multiple properties.
